JPG to SVG converter: JPEG to vector in your browser
A JPG is made of pixels, so it blurs when you enlarge it. VKTR traces your JPG or JPEG into an SVG of vector paths that stay sharp at any size, in colour or black and white. The white page behind most JPGs is removed automatically, and the conversion runs in your browser.

01 / How it works
How to convert JPG to SVG in three steps
- 01
Open your JPG
Drop, choose or paste a JPG or JPEG into the Studio. VKTR accepts PNG, JPG, WebP or HEIC up to 20 MB.
- 02
Clean up the trace
Adjust the number of colours, smoothing and the size of the smallest shapes kept, so compression specks drop out. For scans, Scan cleanup straightens, trims and removes dust.
- 03
Download the SVG
Set the width in millimetres and download the SVG, or the same result as PDF, EPS or DXF.
02 / What you get
What is in the SVG file
White page removed
A JPG has no transparency, so artwork usually sits on a white page. VKTR removes a white or off-white page automatically, and the SVG has no background shape.
Compression specks under control
Denoising and a minimum shape size keep JPG artefacts out of the result; Scan cleanup straightens, trims, evens the levels and removes dust from scans and photos of paper.
Colour or black and white
Auto picks between 2 and 32 colours for flat artwork, or set the number yourself. Black and white suits line art, signatures and stamps.
Real paths, smooth curves
The SVG is made of paths with bezier curves, grouped by colour. It never embeds a copy of your JPG.
03 / Tips
For the cleanest result
Use the original, not a copy of a copy
Every time a JPG is re-saved or sent through a messaging app it loses detail. Start from the first, largest version you can find.
Logos and drawings beat photos
Clear shapes and flat colours trace cleanly. A photo becomes stylised artwork, not a vector copy of the photo.
Check the edges up close
Zoom in on lettering and thin lines before you download, and delete any stray shapes left from compression.
04 / Questions
JPG to SVG: questions and answers
Can you convert a JPG to a vector?
Yes. VKTR traces the JPG into vector paths that you can resize without blur and edit shape by shape. It is a traced version of the image, not the original design file, so check it before you use it.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two names for the same image format, and VKTR accepts both.
Why is there a white box around my converted JPG?
JPGs cannot be transparent, so the artwork sits on a page. VKTR removes a white or off-white page automatically; if the page is another colour, turn background removal on.
Is the JPG to SVG conversion free?
Converting, previewing and editing are free with no account. Each download uses one token, and every free account gets 1 token every 7 days.
Can I get a PDF, EPS or DXF from a JPG?
Yes. The same traced result downloads as SVG, PDF, EPS or DXF.
