Why We Built VKTR: From Flat Images to Editable Artwork
The design was approved. The customer was ready. The file was the problem.
By the VKTR team · Dubai

Key takeaways
- VKTR is an online image-to-vector tool: it turns PNG, JPG, WebP and HEIC images into editable vector artwork, downloadable as SVG, PDF, EPS or DXF.
- It grew out of print-house work in Dubai, where customers often arrive with a logo as a JPG, a screenshot or an AI image, but no source file.
- Vector paths can be edited and scaled without pixelation. Conversion does not recover the original design file, its fonts or hidden layers.
- Check every converted file, especially lettering and fine detail, against your printer's requirements before production.
If you work in printing, design, signage, or branded products, you probably know that moment.
Someone sends a logo as a JPG. A business shares a screenshot of its artwork. A customer arrives with an image created using an AI tool and asks to print it on packaging, a sign, or a product.
They can see exactly what they want. But the designer still needs a file they can work with.
That gap is why we started VKTR.
A problem we knew from the print floor
VKTR grew out of our experience working inside a leading print house in Dubai.
We saw the same difficulty from both sides. Customers understandably expected the image on their screen to be usable. Designers and production teams needed to inspect edges, adjust colours, resize artwork, and prepare individual elements for the job.
A flattened image made those tasks harder.
Sometimes the original designer was no longer available. Sometimes the business had lost its source files. Sometimes the only version anyone could find was a small image downloaded from a website.
The artwork existed. The editable version did not.
Before production could move forward, someone had to rebuild parts of the design.
Converting a file was only part of the challenge
There were already online conversion tools. We tried them because the need was immediate: spend less time rebuilding artwork and more time getting the job ready.
Our frustration was consistency.
A result could look promising at first, then need more work when we inspected the lettering, colour boundaries, small gaps, or individual shapes. Getting a downloadable file was not the same as getting artwork we could comfortably continue editing.
That shaped the brief for VKTR.
We wanted the workflow to stay focused on the design the user already had, with a practical route from a flat image to editable vector artwork.
What VKTR does
VKTR is an online image-to-vector tool for converting raster artwork into SVG.
Raster images, including PNG and JPG files, describe a picture using pixels. Vector artwork describes shapes using paths and curves. Those paths can be adjusted in compatible design software and scaled without the pixelation associated with enlarging a raster image.
VKTR Studio accepts PNG, JPG, WebP, and HEIC images and provides SVG output, with PDF, EPS and DXF downloads as well. The conversion runs in your browser, so the image is not uploaded.
| Raster image | Vector artwork | |
|---|---|---|
| Made of | A grid of pixels | Paths and curves |
| Enlarging it | Blurs or pixelates | Stays sharp at any size |
| Editing one shape | Hard: shapes are fused into pixels | Select and change the shape itself |
| Common formats | PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC | SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF |
For the person uploading a file, the goal is straightforward: turn an image into artwork that is easier to inspect, adapt, and prepare for its next use.
That might mean working on a logo, a graphic illustration, or another design built around recognisable shapes.
Built with printing experience and AI-assisted development
We brought our experience of customer artwork together with AI-assisted development to build VKTR around a real production problem.
The starting point was the work itself: what happens when a customer has an approved design but the production team needs more control over it?
That question matters more than a long feature list.
Can the artwork move into the next stage of the workflow? Can the person preparing the job inspect the shapes? Can they identify what still needs attention before printing?
AI-assisted development helped us build the product. The standard we care about is the usefulness of the resulting artwork.
You do not have to know the word “vector”
People describe the same need in different ways:
My printer needs an open file.
Can I get this as an SVG?
I need an editable version of my logo.
Can someone turn this PNG into an Illustrator file?
I need to change one part of this design.
These requests are related, but the deliverables can differ.
An SVG containing vector paths can give a designer editable shapes. It does not recreate the original designer’s entire working document, recover the original fonts, or restore hidden content behind other objects.
That distinction helps everyone ask for the right file.
Who VKTR is for
Designers handling customer-supplied artwork
When the client has an image but no source file, vector conversion can provide a starting point for editing and refinement.
Print houses and production teams
Logos and graphic elements often need to be resized, cleaned up, or incorporated into layouts before production.
Business owners and brand teams
A business may need to reuse the same logo across a website, packaging, promotional products, and signage. Having editable vector artwork makes those conversations with designers and suppliers easier.
Creators working with AI-generated images
When an AI tool delivers a flattened PNG or JPG, vector conversion can help bring suitable graphic artwork into an editing workflow. The result still needs checking, particularly around lettering and fine details.
Started in Dubai. Built for a shared problem.
Our printing experience comes from Dubai, but the missing-source-file problem is familiar well beyond one market.
The vocabulary changes. One supplier asks for an “open file.” Another requests vectors. Another needs an SVG or an Illustrator document.
The underlying need is often the same: artwork that someone can work with.
That is where VKTR belongs.
Start with the image you have
You do not need to know every file format before getting started.
Choose your clearest available artwork, open VKTR Studio, and review the conversion. If the file is going into production, have the finished artwork checked against your printer’s requirements.
Our aim is simple: help you move from a flat image towards an editable file, with less unnecessary rebuilding along the way.
Questions and answers
- What is VKTR?
- VKTR is an online image-to-vector tool. It converts raster images (PNG, JPG, WebP and HEIC) into editable vector artwork that you can download as SVG, PDF, EPS or DXF. The conversion runs in your browser, so your image is not uploaded.
- What is the difference between a raster image and a vector file?
- A raster image, such as a PNG or JPG, records a picture as a grid of pixels, so it blurs or pixelates when enlarged. A vector file describes shapes with paths and curves, so it can be scaled to any size and its shapes and colours can be edited in design software.
- Can I convert a PNG or JPG logo to SVG with VKTR?
- Yes. Open the image in VKTR Studio, review the converted artwork, and download it as SVG. Logos, graphic illustrations and other designs built from recognisable shapes suit conversion best. Start from the clearest version of the image you have.
- Does converting an image to vector recover the original design file?
- No. An SVG with vector paths gives a designer editable shapes, but it does not recreate the original designer’s working document, recover the original fonts, or restore content hidden behind other objects.
- Do I need to check a converted file before printing?
- Yes. Automatic conversion can leave issues in lettering, fine lines, small gaps or colour boundaries. Check the finished artwork against your printer’s requirements before it goes into production.
- Who is VKTR for?
- Designers handling customer-supplied artwork, print houses and production teams, business owners and brand teams who reuse their logo across web, packaging and signage, and creators turning AI-generated images into editable artwork.
- Is my image uploaded when I use VKTR?
- No. VKTR Studio converts the image in your own browser, and the files you download are made on your device.
